Help with Sony Mavica FD-75

Well, apparently, my g/f's youngest has taught himself how to use my digital camera. He's a camera hog, always wanting to get his picture taken. My m'-in-law said he was playing with it, and had the power turned on. Earlier today, I found 16 images he had taken.
My problem, is that whenever I try to take a macro shot of some recent finds, the image is terribly dark. I am doing the same I've been doing; taking images with the objects on 1/4" graph paper, white with green lines, and I have a desk lamp with a 60W bulb for lighting, and two 60W frosted light bulbs on the ceiling. I've noticed that there is a -1.5EV on the display screen of the camera, which I can't remember seeing before. Is there some way to change that setting, if that is what is hurting my images? I can't find my handbook, as it's packed away somewhere since I moved.
TIA, Allen in MI

If you can't get an answer in a few days there look for a review on one of the digital camera sites. Not this one as I already looked but there's a bunch of them... Guvner..

I have the FD-83. To adjust the EV (exposure value) on mine, bring up the menu; under camera setting you will find the exposure settings. Sounds like you are a stop and a half under exposed.
