help with problem with f75 please anyone,

Today i was at a rally and my friend got a hammered coin, now as you know these usually come in the foil area, anyway i had a nosey and then proceeded to swipe it over my coil,it wouldnt detect it,no matter what.
So my settings were sensitivity 90,discrim 3,notch 1,tones 2f and process de.
It should by rights of picked it up easily.

I noticed though if i turned my discrim up to 28 or more it picked it up,weird i know.So the higher i turned the knob the less descrim in real terms.
I also noticed that when my discrim was at zero, the iron and foil symbols had lines through them both, saying there discrimed out, this was at zero descrim dont forget.
So it think it was sort of working in reverse.
Weird i know but true.

Only solution i could think of was to factory reset,i did this and all was well after,at zero descrim the iron and foil symbols did not have line through them,it picked up the hammered fine,if i turned the descrim back up to 28 as before it descrimed it out like it should.
So all is well.
But now i am i concered this could happen again and am worried why it happened in the first place, after all only last week i reset to factory defaults as thats when i got it from a friend.

Please help with this and if anyone from fisher is reading please can you help with what went wrong.
Thankyou Gary :)

Hey gary I think some how you are notching out the lower signals,I to inadvertently have done the same thing with my f75. You are right on track thou by having noticed the iron and foil being notched out.Keep an eye on your notching out slashes.I hope this helps, maybe some of are f75 seasoned swingers will chime in......hh rick in mi.

Looks like im not gonna get an answer to this one anytime soon, hopefully someone will be able to help, does anyone from fisher come on here? :(

You probably had a notch set up. I don't know why fisher set the machine set to one instead of 0 even though no notch is set up. The only way to be sure is to do a factory reset.

Reset it and try again. This past Sunday, my F75 LTD was acting very strange. Could not really quiet it down, would not ground balance, all settings looked like they were in range of what I normally hunt with. I was finding almost no targets. I threw a dime on the ground and with discrimination set at 6 I could not find the dime with the detector. Did a reset of the detector it and was back to the wonderful hunting beast the F75 LTD can be.

In case you haven't memorized the reset; here it is as stated in the manual:
If you wish to reset the settings to the factory preset, follow this process:
1. Turn detector off.
2. Press-and-hold the red MENU button and
push-forward-and-hold the TOGGLE SWITCH.
3. Turn the detector on, while you are still holding the controls.
4. Release the MENU button and TOGGLE SWITCH.
5. See the F symbol. When the F disappears, the detector is reset.
Cheers,
tvr

If a reset to factory settings doesn't fix the problem, then it sounds like it is time to send it back to FT for repairs. Good luck
