Help with Platinum

Hi all, I was asked to look for a platinum mans wedding ring whilst I was searching on the beach today. I was searching a blind as I have never found a platinum ring before.I am going back tomorrow to have another go, Can somebody tell me if I am going to hear a high tone with an explorer, and what sort of numbers should I expect in digital.
Thanks!

All I'm gonna say is don't knock out pulltabs!!!!!! it's gonna be pretty close in target response, with the SOV GT it sounds just the same as a bad tab come foil when at depth, all depends on the weight too, I had one 7.8gm and it gave the sh*******t signal from 9" ish, but shallower you should get a much more clean and rounded signal.

As for your discrim just reject nails only, and dig every repeateble signal.

good luck

A man's Platinum Wedding ring will usually read between nickel and zinc penny. Don't know about numbers as I use the Smartfind Screen instead of the number screen.

Depending on where the platinum ring was made and the percentage of platinum in the ring. It can range from just above iron to just above a large pulltab. The man's Tiffany & Co. 950 platinum ring I found last week weight 6.7 grams read one number above a nickel.

Made a mental note just in case:thumbup:, all the more reason for running 0/0 in notch/disc:biggrin:

My friend and I did a test with a 5gm Platinum ring that I found with the BH T4. On his Explorer he said it was the same reading as an Aussie 5c piece and that is about the pulltab range too. You'll need to dig a few holes I reckon, but good luck with it. HH regards Nugget.
