Help with Pinpointing!

I was out for the first time with CTX3030 & a few times when I got a good target in the upper section. When I use the pinpoint it would show the red diamond in the lower reject area, insted of a target in the upper area. What is it telling me ? Should I dig the target?

Target identifaction can vary depending on the mode you are using (Low Trash, High Trash, Ferrous-Coin, Ground-Coin). When you go into Pinpoint mode your detector becomes a non-motion detector. Not sure, but it might also bypass any of the modes you are using (It would be great if we could get a confirmation on this). Rusty nails have always been a problem....sometimes they give a good reading and just maybe, when you pinpoint it on the CTX it could show up as iron which, if true, can be really helpful in making the decision to dig or not to dig in the future.
I am switching over from the Explorer SE and whenever Im in doubt, the best thing to do is dig it and make a note of what your detector is saying. If you find the same thing happening again then dig it again to see if you were right in identifying whats in the ground. It can be fun playing the guessing game!!!
This is just my opinion on what could be happening...the best thing you can do is learn what your detector is saying by digging, digging, digging and digging some more.
Hope this helps

These are just some of my finds that motivate me to keep digging "iffy signals"!!!!!

I have found setting pin pointing to sizing and then moving of the target then hitting the trigger and moving back towards the target will lock in on the good target. If it will not lock on it is junk or deep iron. Coming from the SE PRO I dug just about everything and more times then not it was junk but sometimes it was a good target. I have found with the CTX it really does not do iffy's . Iffy's with good numbers and trashy trace are trash or deep iron. Went to a trashy old park yesterday using gone huntings coin set up. I dug 50+ iffy's all were trash and deep iron. I think Randy and gone hunting have posted about what you are reffering too. This has just been my results and I will still dig iffy's depending on the site but the more I use the CTX the more I can see me digging less of them.

Its easier to set the pinpoint at "normal". You can still judge how large the target is through practice. Sometimes you need to press the PP button in several times and go over the target a few times as well. If you are hunting and while trying to pinpoint release the PP button and go over another target your original target will not be detectable when you pinpoint. Only the new target. The detector accurately ppinpoints to the last identified target.
