Help with pinpointing " Vaquero" I just received my Vaquero and have a Question about pinpointing ..... when I push the PP button in and go over the target the tone gets loader ...but then it nulls out if I hold it over thr target. Is there any way to stop that and bring in down to a small beep ( short swing ) when your over the target ?
thanks

Hopefully I understand your question. You can in fact get the size of the pinpoint response reduced. Let's say you are getting a pinpoint response for 12 inches of coil travel when you first start checking out the target. If theres no other trash or significant mineralization, this 12" response should be somewhat circular in shape. This isn't an exact science but try moving your coil 6" into the original 12" circle and then hit your pinpoint and move the coil towards and across the target. You can continue to "downsize" the response by starting your pinpointing pass closer to the target until you actually tune out the target and won't hear anything at all in pinpoint. You're just trying to make it respond in as small an area as possible while not eliminating it all together. Hope this is what you were looking for.

I've had a V since late January. It has a fast autotune in pinpoint mode, which is why it nulls out if you hold the coil over the item. I just X the coil in discrim mode and when I'm pretty close to having centered the coil, then use the pinpoint mode for the last bit of centering.

I personally agree with Dan that the Tesoros USUALLY pinpoint most effectively just using the "x" method. Unless the target is at or very near the max depth of detection, you can slow your sweep speed way down once you supect there's a target and the audio report will be quite precise as far as location is concerned. You can also use a very short faster swing over the target to verify it's exact location. I usually only use the pinpoint button (all metal) to verify the relative size the target once I've pinpointed it using the "x" method. I, like some others, do wish the retune speed was slower but I'm sure there was good reason to make it like it is.
