Help with new Explorer

Took my explorer to the beach today. Its the 2nd
time out with the new toy. Had a good time and found 4 Q's, 5 dimes, 3 nickels and 6 pennies.
Also played around with all the setting. I found 1 dime at 10 in. Then we went at a school play ground. This is where I stated having problems. I was getting alot of fales signals. I tried differnt settings with no help. I was using the 10.5 coil. Can anyone help me with some setting
for this type of area. Also hello to the folks in the UK , I used to live on RAF Feltwell form 87-90, I am in the <IMG SRC="/forums/images/flag.jpg" BORDER=0 ALT="USA">F. To bad I was not into metal detecting back then.

First try resetting to factory settings.
second try another place to see if the problem persists. sometimes it is the place itself ie electrical interference. next try noise cancel.
also take the coil cover off and clean the coil and cover. If you were at the beach you may have sand and saltwater trapped under the cover that may be falsing.
Hope this helps

Thanks Rick, I did wash off the coil and cover
before I hit the school area. I used the fatory setting also. I really like the explorer
but I need to keep learning as much as I can each trip out. I did find some coins at the park but most were 6 to 8 " down. I think someone checks the area because most coins were from the late 70's. Thanks agian ad good luck. Frank (FL)
