help with lone star BH

First i'd like to thank all of you for the great post and help i have seen on here...I have been wanting to detect at an old house not far from me for years. He never had electricity there so no kind of wiring. The log house burned with all contents inside. It had been there since 1870 with HIS mom and dads stuff still inside it,he had a heart attack and was never able to return home with no relatives.left it at age 78 just a few years ago shortly after it burned.
A few weeks ago i bought a lonestar bh. I have found a few coins,1 being a 1918 penny. My problem is that even alum. foil is picking up as a quarter.I try and set the knobs at recommended for coins, but nothing changes..I really enjoy it but can't seem to get any settings to change on it at all.I have laid down various objects(alum.,steel, iron, copper, etc) along with various coins and tried to get some of them to come off,but with no luck..is this the way it is suppose to be?I already could have pounds of pull tabs, tin cans, lids, rusty items, iron stoves : 0 ..but only 5 coins..help please??????
thank you!!!

I too... still learning on my Lone Star. Have had it for about two months now.It takes practice and patients and have run into same problems with the foil, cans and other trash that reads in the silver range. I usually start out in the Auto Notch mode, with the sensitivity at nine o'clock and the disc/notch at about eleven o'clock.(the sensitivity and the disc/notch I will change at times). Once I get a signal in the silver range, I change to all metal mode and then to disc mode. If I get a repeat signal in these two modes, in the silver range I dig.. or if I'm curious what it is.. I dig. If you want to know how deep your target is try lifting your coil until you do not get a signal. This will give you an approximate depth.

Hope this helps.
Have fun
