found this in an old park along with some old wheats and IH's, it was down 8" (about the same as the coins) if this helps in dating it. it rang in at 12-45 on the E-trac.

Looks like an old lock/latch of a piggy bank to me, that opened with a pentagonal key.
Just a guess, though.

Nice find. I`ld soak it in WD40 for a couple of weeks to see if you can get it to work again.
