Hello everyone. I'm new to detecting and am looking for some helpful info. I have hunted for about 30 hours now with my MXT and am having trouble with hot rocks. I live in NW Connecticut and seem to hit hot rocks with every other swipe. I've tried grounding the unit right over a rock but that doesn't seem to eliminate to beeps. What causes me the most concern is the VDI will range from hot rock to +70-90, which makes me wonder what to dig. I'm using the standard coul but have a 4x6 DD I could use too.
At first I dug a lot of the rocks and didn't see any iron/coins. I have recently been pulling the trigger, pinpointing the item/rock and looking at my VDI reading over center of target. If it stays hot rock (with a full accuracy bar) I move on. ..so I'm assuming it is safe to just bypass these tones.
Can anyone give me advice if this is normal?
