help with headphone selection

I have severe high pitch hearing loss in my left ear and mild in the right one. I bought a set of Gray Ghost DMC don't think they are going to work for me. My detector sounds better unplugged . Any suggestions on a different brand or model?

circuitry design as well as the headphones, but my Killer B's and now back-ups to my White's Pro Star headphones. The Pro Stars help with some of the hearing loss I have, which is all over the place but especially higher pitch frequencies, plus they are very comfortable with the 'tank style' ear cups. The ear cup is similar to that used for the Killer B 'Hornet.' So I use my Pro Star the most, with any detector make or model, but I will benefit a little using my Killer B 'Wasp' headphones when I use a White's Classic model or a lower-tone Tesoro, such as my Outlaw.

I too have problems hearing certain tones, that's the main reason I bought a Tesoro Tejon over other detectors, it has a user adjustable tone output and I can set it to what I hear best. I run it with Grey Ghost Original headphones and am happy with the result. If your headphone has only one volume control for both ears, simply put a piece of foam in the cup of the good ear thus allowing you to turn up the volume and hear better in your bad ear.

I too having some pretty bad hearing loss from firearms and loud job site conditions. I use the Royal GTs from whites. they have done pretty good by me on my F75 and my Cutlass uMax.

Have been thinking about one of the higher end sets though... I know Jim had a pair of new Bushmasters listed in the classifieds, Just so many wants and not nearly enough cash for them all  But ain't that the way of the world right.

I repair and build a set of phones every once in a while, it is a hobby that I really enjoy. I do not have any hearing loss but I do not like high pithed tones/sounds. I use high ohm speakers in the phones I build and they have what I call a mellow sound, my ears really like the sound. My last set was bought from someone that wanted them for hs eTrac he called me to tell me how well it made his eTrac come alive. I have never had a eTrac but got the idea of what he was saying. Anyways it might be worth tryin a set of the high ohm speakers in your phones. Not trying to push a sale on you just trying to help.

I was thinking of buying a tejon because of the adjustable tones. I been watching the classifieds for a deal on a used one.
