Help with Excaliber

Member
I just bought a used Excaliber through an online auction and I can't get any sound from it. I assembled it yesterday, turned it on and noticed no threshold only a very dim click through the headphones when it came on. I charged the battery overnight and today have the same results. It doesn't react to metal or anything. Is there something that I am missing here? I am an experienced detector though mainly a relic hunter so this isn't my first experience with these machines. Thanks.
Mike

Possibly bad battery. When mine is slap dead I get the slight click, and nothing else.

check the voltage from the battery with a volt meter it should be about 13v after full charge
also check contacts on both battery and the connector , make sure you have a tight fit and the contacts are free from corrosion

Thanks guys. This machine is less than 2 years old and suppposedly with "little use" but it does sound like a dead battery. I'm returning it. So much for beach detecting.

Hope you can get your money back.
Of course the clod will auction it off again....and again...until someone decides to keep it and spend the extra money to fix this "almost new " detector and keep it.....provided that they can live with an Xcal.

HH when things go better fo you.

I have 3 x-cals, if you got a good deal on it you may want to look on ebay under minelab and get a new nima pod for it about 40.00 bucks or go to a battery Plus and have them make you a pod. They can also put that pod on a battery checker and see if its good or bad. Ive already replaced 2 of mine and I carry an alkeline pod as a backup. Good luck
