Help with 1886 O Morgan Silver Dollar

My friend showed me this and its a 1886 O Morgan Silver Dollar with a Mint Error I think. The Head is vertical but when you flip it over the eagle is tilted about 30 degrees. Here are some pics and any information you can give would be helpful.

Looks like that rotation of the reverse side is a mint error to me, as well. Here are a couple links describing a coin very similar to your buddy's. HH Randy

Nice, Great Find, for your friend.

I think your friend might have a winner there.

If he doesn't have a coin dealer he knows and can trust, I would bring it to a coin show and have several or more dealers take a look at it.

After that I would send it (or have it sent by a trust-worthy dealer) to PCGS or NGC or even ANACS coin grading services to have it authenticated, graded and slabbed.

Than he should have no problem selling it if he wishes or keeping it and knowing it's value.

Good Hunting

It may add a bit to the value but not a lot I would think. That is not an uncommon error on older coins, I have an 1818 Large cent with about the same amount of turn and I have seen a lot of Indians that way too. But good advice was given to check with coin dealer.
