Help using DetectorPro UniProbe with the CTX

unearth

Member
Having problems using this probe with my CTX. I get a low signal with the detector, dig the plug, now looking for the target with the probe and can't find it. Use the Garrett probe and find it easily. The target is foil. I can put the UniProbe right next to the foil and it will not detect it! Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Also I get plenty of interference from the CTX. I keep the CTX as far away from the probe as possible but I still get some interference. Turn down the thres. and I lose depth. Is that what happens when the thres. is lowered? Now I've read the one sheet of instructions, but it hasn't made any difference. I turn the freq. knob and the thres. knob many times but still can't get it to work the way I think it should work. Any info on the best way to set this probe correctly? Thanks in advance for any help.

How does the UniProbe perform when the CTX3030 is not turned on? If it still doesn't work properly, you either need to readjust the settings or have it checked out.

If it works fine until you turn on the CTX3030, it might be a frequency conflict between the probe and the detector channel you are running. Changing the noise cancel channel is typically used to neutralize the effects of interference on the CTX3030. But you might try switching channels, to see if improves the performance of your UniProbe. JMHO HH Randy

I use a Uni Probe with my CTX 3030 and it seems to work real good. You are setting the Uni Probe so there is a slight pulse, right? with it having a slight pulse and you get close to any metal that pulse will speed up letting you know it is seeing metal and the faster it pulses the closer you are to the target, when it scream you will be touching it if it is coin size.
I use the freq knob at time as it does pick up interference at time from the detector, but can get it to stabilize enough to use it to find the target. Mine is around 8-10 years old and if they are still built the same I notice the battery when get low will cause some interference and there is now way I could use rechargeable 9 volt batteries as they were not a full 9 volts.
I swear by my Uni Probe as it will go deep and very sensitive too.
One more thing is my Uni Probe is the one built into the headphone and not the pocket one as I notice a few used pocket ones for sale, but very rare to find one built into the headphones for sale.

Rick said it all...I have been using the same setup with my ctx since it was first released.

after you adjust the uniprobe, do a noise cancel on the ctx with the uniprobe turned on and the probe a couple feet from the coil... set the detector down with coil away from hole while digging.....wildherre

Ok. Still having problems understanding how to set the probe up. I still don't get a reading on foil and I have to get within 2 maybe 3 inches of my rings before the probe starts sounding off. Is the probe, when turned on, supposed to sound like a geiger counter when not close to a metal target? If someone who is using this probe, and liking it, wouldn't mind PM'ing me with a phone number and a time to call, I live in Calif., so we may chat about this probe. I would really appreciate the help.

I would contact Gary Storm owner of Detectorpro here in Pleasant Valley New York, or at the last your dealer...

The Uniprobe has a automatic tuning. If you hold it over a metal target it will detune itself. For maxium sensitivity, move the probe away from your metal target so it will set itself. After experimenting, you can notice how this is done.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
