Well.............. I'm going to pick up a used etrac tommorow(1yr old) and I'm a little concerned with the posts below with Minelabs response's for warranty work or just any service.I love my 2 excals but have had a real love /hate relationship with there service dept. And with a sizeable outlay of money on a machichine I no nothing about,Other than I trust this dealer(Even if he is a little flakey :bouncy: ) JUST KIDDIN (Maybe he doesn't read this forum). Have you guys and gals had many problems with this model?Or am I just haveing last minute jitters? I'm mostly on the beach but love springtime hunting and hope that the vdi is more acurate than my dfx. Which seems to be a wild guess most of the time. Thanks Grumpy:shrug:

the etrac is second to none if you have issue with your machine save this post and contact me if needed and ill give the phone number

Hi Grumpy: I have not had a minute of problems with mine which is over 1 year old, performs flawlessly, have you looked it over well? Has it or does it show rough use in the past, check the coil wires, look for breaks in that. Look at the locks on the shaft, are the cams wore out? Has the previous owner used an envirmental cover on it or is the face all beatup?
Will the dealer stand behind it? Three year warranty to start on those units. Just what I look for on trade ins. Have you been allowed to field test it? Hope this helps some. Hardrock:minelab:

no problem with mine so far grumpy, shes about a year old:thumbup:

Ive got a few explorers as well(etrac I bought new, explorers used) and theyve never let me down, knock on wood:detecting:

I bought mine one month after they came out. And it runs just as good now as the day I got it! Get ready to dig some deep silver!

HI

The only problems I have had with my 4 mo old E- trec was the the lower shaft lock. I think it is called a cam lock it stops the lower shaft from moving up or down. There is a little red peace of plastic under the latch with a silver peace of metal. That little metal peace fell out & so the rod would not lock. So I called minelab and they sent me a new upper rod. I had it out this past winter on the beach - 25 below. Ice was freezing on the coil & shaft and had no problems worked great. I had a V3 and sold it for the E-Trac & it was the best move I have ever made. Good luck and good hunting

I have had nine since October, 2008 and have never had any trouble with it. This is a great machine. You will dig deep silver and Indian Head Cents as well. You will love your new machine. HH...Jesse.
