Help trying to ID an old Garrett detector

Tony

Member
G'day to everyone,

For some reason unknown to me I am on a mission to try to find out what model of Garrett detector I might have used way back around 1980-1982 when I was about 14 years of age. I was in Australia at the time and my parents bought for me a high end (at the time) Garrett detector. It came in a fancy hard case and was the typical long rectangular green metal box with plenty of knobs and nice yellow "Garretts" splashed all over it......
Can anyone tell me what model this might have been and if there is any internet information on it. I've tried searching on many sites but no luck so far...

Grateful for any ideas,
Regards,
Tony (in Australia)

Hi Tony,
from the general description you gave, I would probably say that it was a Garrett ADS Deepseeker. If the controls were on the side, it would have been one of these units.
If the controls were on the top of the control box, then it was most likely a Garrett Groundhog series detector.
I would have a guess that it was the ADS Deepseeker.
Hope this helps out.
All the best,
Phil

Tony,

There are also PDF manuals for all those old Garretts on their site including the ADS deepseeker.
