Help to ID Silver wash one piece Snake Button. Military?

Hoping someone has found something similar. It has an odd square shank that ive never found on a one piece early flat button or any modern buttons.

It has a nice silver wash of what appears to be a coiled up snake possibly eating a frog or perhaps its own tail.

I searched the Albert book and did not find anything although i have been know to look over things.

This came from a spot that produced two late 1800's indians a buffalo and several horse shoes and tack.

Any help i would really appreciate it.

It is almost the exact size of a penny. I found a concave disk about the same size there that had an E stamped in it. One of the guys i was hunting with said that was a rosette. Good possibility this is too. A spur button crossed my mind as well.

I don't know about the design, but it has the back of a cuff link.
Would have had another part that turned to hold it in the button hole.
