Help! The Machine or the operator??

Don't know yet. Are you using the detector in town where there are a lot of power lines close by? I have noticed that when I use mine in those situations that it chatters more than say out in the country where there are no power lines. What I do is turn down the sensitivity when around power lines. The Explorer is sensitive to emi., it will do the same thing inside a house because of electric current.

Mine staed making strange sounds also, when I spoke to the factory and gave him the symptoms he said it was most likely the coil and to send the whole thing in and he would check it out. Give them a call they can save you a lot of time and trouble.

I got mine in April too. I was having intermittent problems with it being very erratic. I thought it was the coil connection at the control panel. Seemed like everytime I disconnected it and re-connected it, the problem went away.

I put up with it until the coil just up and died one day. They shipped back my machine, with a new coil, the very same day they got it from me. Dang thing's like a new machine. It was probably just no good from the beginning. My local dealer said he'd heard they had a few issues with coils. There's only one year on the coil, so best send it back now. Hey, at least it's not the first day of spring :)
