Help! Tax Tokens???

Hey guys,

I need help identifying these coins/tokens. The first one is quarter sized, but I can't for the life of me tell what it says. The other is a very small coin (much smaller than a dime) that looks like a date of 1882 or 1885 and it looks like I can make the word "tax" out. I found both of these today while detecting an old ghost town in central Oklahoma that was a thriving city from appx 1885 to 1903. the area is now farm pasture. Any help on making an ID would be greatly appreciated. The photos are the best I could do, I hope the photo's help. Any thoughts or suggestions please!!!! Thanks

Found a decent site for the tax tokens: http://taxtoken.org/ . There are several from the area of the country that you mentioned. May be worth a look. Hope it helps.

those are sales tax tokens. it was a way for the state to make more money. so a sale items tax is like 1.2 cents instead of rounding up or down you would give up 2 of these with the penny. also known as mills. 1 tenth of a cent. missouri used these till the early 60's. i belive i read 13 other states used these as well. i find these all the time just not that old cool find
