Help search coils sovereign gt

Moraito

New member
Pardon my ignorance but I have a sovereign gt which has a coil 10 "tornado, and also have a coil 800 bbs a Sovereign elite.

I can use the coil 800 in sovereign bbs gt?

I can use these two reels under water?

I appreciate you clarify this doubt.
A greeting.

The coils are interchangeable. The BBS is the older model of the Tornado coils. But you can switch them around at your leisure.

Both these coils are waterproof, but it wouldn't hurt to put silicone on the coil cord at the coil.A couple years ago I used a Tornado 800 coil in 3-4 ft water as a wader and had water leak into the coil, never did get that coil working right.I had to buy another Tornado 800 coil, which I think there was a disclaimer with this new coil saying the coil was only water proof to one meter. My guess is the specs are different from the coils used on the Excals.Just to be safe I would use some silicone where the cord connects to the coil. Ron did you contact Minelab about this? Both the older black open BBS coils and the Tornado coils are the ones they use on the Excals, both are waterproof sealed coils.

The white Coinsearch coils (8" and 11") were the water resistant ones and weren't waterproof.

Some of the coils I have for my Xterra carry the disclaimer you mention but none of the Sov coils.

Im betting minelab would replace that for you.

Neil,I did notice the ad specs for the Tornado coil was changed and no longer states waterproof for I meter. But just says submersible? No I didn't contact Minelab, but maybe should have, because I always thought that all Slimline coils could be used in deep water.
