Help removing stuck coil cover please!

Have you tried grabbing the coil with both hands and pushing down with both thumbs on the outside of the coil? Keep your thumbs right next to each other.

Try just working with one small area at a time moving around and inside. Keep pushing and it will star to work it's way off. When they are new they are bugger to get off but you need to do it from time to time to wash it and the coil off. After a few times it will be easier........

Yeah I forgot to mention sticking it in warm water. These things are a booger when new and either them or the coils aren't a uniform size.

If it was me. Once you get it off don't put it back on. I know a lot of people use them but there are a lot that don't. I haven't used one ever and haven't wore through a coil yet. I had the same detector from 1984 to 1999. I haven't done it but Harold from Florida said he buys marine epoxy and coats the bottom of his coils.

Yeah I don't use coil covers, but then I don't use my tector as a club or a hammer. In 44 years I've never damaged a coil or worn one out. My coil never touches the ground when scanning.

Bill,
They didn't have covers when I started and they sure as heck didn't when you started!! So does that make me an oldie!!! :beers:

a little trick that has worked for me is the use of grilling spray like "Pam" the reg type. Spray it around the edge of the coil to seep in and work it free .. worked for me good luck

Yeah just like me. Never heard of a coil cover when I started, no discrimination, no ID, no depth, no pinpoint, no nothing, just that old motor boat sound of the BFO. :)

After the umteenth time fighting mine off ealy on, I got the same info from Uncle Willy he posted here in reply to a post I made las tyear about the same thing. I have never used it since. Those coils are tough.
