Help pot values for White's 5000/d series 2??:hot:

I am going to change Disc pot and GB pot.
Tried spraying cleaner into them, did unstick them and they worked, still some stiffness in the Disc pot, didn't adjust disc. mode below 3 setting.
The detector was usable but not to my standards.
After about four hours the Disc. pot froze up again and the GB pot became real stiff again.
Figured why waste time with them, replace them.

can't find schematics for the 5000/d series 2, so I am not 100 percent sure as to the values to use, not sure if my multimeter is measuring them
correctly.

I came up with
GB--5k or 10K
Disc--50k or is it 47k

The pots are CENTRALAR brand
#121-0503-51
#121-0502-51

Any help will be appreciated.

Wondering if the part numbers may give a clue:

The numbering may indicate the value "502" should be might be 5K ohms, and the "503" might be a 50K ohms???

Best bet,disconnect the pots from the circuit and then measure them.
Use a desoldering gun (radio shack)
This gives you an accurate reading without the rest of the circuit interfering.
Just make sure you draw a schematic of what goes where.

Misread the pot, it's actually CENTRALAB, the audio version pot were used on the Gibson guitars.
And I was correct with the pot values a 5K and a 50K and came up with schematics for the unit......

My replacement pots came in a few days ago, attached them to the top case and wired them up to the PCB, the 5000/d responds perfectly.
Hopefully get out today or Sunday and see what I can find.

The pots should have a value on the bottom of them and if u are in the usa u can call your dist (1-800-547-6911) any where in the usa and he can tell you or else call a repair service there are 3 in us, and either have it fixed or he can tell u the values of pots as I have replaced a few as my last 4900 had 2 stuck and I replaced them as they had values on the bottom of them even called my repair center and he told me,Great service the repair centers are,and helpful too.Not that hard to replace.service centers are one east of mississippi and one in ill. near chicago and whites in Oregon.Whites repair in Lombard Ill. 1-347-626-0618 or 1-800-392-3223 (tony) Hope this helps.

Hi,
Unfortunately these pots did not have the value marked on them.
The part number pressed into the part gave the clue to its value.
#121-0502-51
#121-0503-51

The center number gave the reference number of the value similar to the way you figure out the value of those small trimmer pots on a PCB.
It did not dawn on me until another forum pointed that out to me. I also picked up a schematic which confirmed the values.
0502==502== 5k
0503==503== 50k

I did replace the pots with Alpha pots and wired them to the board, The detector worked fine after that.
