Will someone be kind enough to tell me the virtues of a 6X8 SEF Minelab Coil .. Thanks

To me it seems to hit on a lot of iron.. but gives a good Id as a high coin... ????????????

If it isn't a favorite can anyone please point me in the right direction for a good smaller coil...

Sunray X8 Stealth is a killer coil, I hardly ever take mine off. After I bought mine and used it for a few weeks a friend that I hunt with was so impressed by the results he want out and bought one, he hardly ever take his off either. They are excellent coils and deep.

You are welcome Elton and thanks, take care.

The SEF 6x8 is a favorite. It has lower quality control, durability, and I think it is beneath Minelab's standards. It is manufactured in Bulgaria or somewhere, against Minelab's wishes.

It costs $130 if you click correctly and use the right coupon. Up to $100 less, than compatible coils. It has a year warranty.

I am not alone in highly recommending you get one. If you are rich, get the more expensive one...

The 6x8 is absolutely awesome in my opinion, separates thru trash like a laser, and gets incredible depth, I dug a seated dime at 9" in the field with it. I use it 100% of the time my etrac is in the fields, perfect for high iron areas when using TTF

I have both the 6x8 and the 4.5x7 Excelerator. I like the SEF OK, but hate, hate, HATE the open coil design. It catches on every bit of stubble, most rocks and some low cactus. What a ginormous pain in the butt in the desert ghost towns where I typically hunt! The 4.5x7 has none of those issues. I have hunted smoother more even areas with the SEF and it worked fine, but finally decided to just leave the 4.5x7 on since it seems to work as well or better - in all environments! If I could find a way to close up the open design of the SEF, I MIGHT learn to love it, but as it is, I think most of those who rave about the SEF simply have not experienced the joy of using the 4.5x7.

In fact, I will make this offer - Buy a 4.5x7 new or in excellent condition. Take good care of it and use it for three months. If you don't love it after that time, I will trade you my excellent condition, lightly used, purchased new, 6X8 and I will keep the 4.5x7 as a backup!

Oops.... Just reread the posts and saw that you (Elton) already have the 6x8. Sorry...late night! Still think the 4.5x7 is the greatest and easily worth the $50 more that KellyCo charges!
