Hi,
Would like to know positives and negatives about Explorer XS before I buy. I have hunted for about 4 years -- first with a CZ5, then with an XLT and now with an MXT. I hunt mostly parks and schools when I am not using my Gold Bug 2 to nugget hunt. I do a limited amount of beach hunting. I do not relic hunt. I am not happy with MXT as it is not nearly as accurate as my old XLT. Do not want to return to XLT because did not like the menu setup. Thanks.

It still is nose heavy and there have been several complaints about the LED deplay being poor in bright sunlight. I'd find a local dealer or someone that has one and try it out. I think the reason there's so many newer dectectors for sale is because their purchased mail order and the digital programming overwhelms people.
It is a great machine for parks and schools, dont' know of another that will stay with it on the salt beach except it's little brother, the Elite.
I have an MXT, which I feel is a good machine also. I've only have it a few months, so I can't give it an equal enough evaluation, as I've been "Exploring" 2.5 yrs.
See what other reponese you get from your post, than armed with them, go see your Minelab dealer and do a hands on. HH

If you want an edge on every detector and operator in the field then you want the explorer. The good out weighs anything you could think that might be bad.

Hi Darryl,
Be ready to learn the sounds. Do not expect the screen to tell you accurately what your target it unless the target is shallow and not in close proximity to trash targets. If you listen to the sounds, the machine is much more accurate. For example, I hit a barber dime and the screen said it was iron, but the sound still had a good coin sound.
