Help please with E-Trac and Canadian clad.

I've had my E-Trac for about two months now but because of weather have only been out 4 times. I've had good luck finding silver but when I hunt young trashy parks for clad I do terrible. In both air and garden testing the E-Trac really does hate Canadian clad. The pennies are OK but the .10, .25, 1.00, and 2.00 coins don't produce much of a signal. Usually the TID dances around between fe34-Co45 and fe01-Co40. I must have a wide open screen to get a partial tone. If I disc. out rusty nails I loose most Canadian clad. I've found that the edge of the pro coil gives a slightly better signal than the center on our clad.
I'm hoping to get some help with how to get a decent signal on Canadian clad. I'm at the point of willing to sell if I can get a reasonable price, but really want to find a way to make this detector work on Canadian clad. Please help.

My settings are as follows;

Sens. 22
4 tones
Resp. normal
Deep off
Trash high
Difficult On
Gain 25
Limits 28

Thank you,
Dave

Dave, I'm a UK guy, so can you please quote the 'in air' Fe / Con for the coins involved.

I am aware of their nickle contents...which is the main cause of your problems.

My initial advice is...HUNT USING FERROUS AUDIO, and dig two way responses.

You didn't mention which AUDIO you are using, but I can guess that its CONDUCTIVE.

Also, can you recall the AUTO SENS., LEVEL IN THE RIGHT HAND INDICATOR?

This provides a clue to your ground conditions and ferrous junk levels in the areas involved.

Normally its about 16 for average ground, it then drops lower as circumstances deteriorate.

Hope this helps..............TheMarshall
