Help Please on cleaning coins, especially copper?

Hi all, can anyone tell me the best methods of cleaning coins, especially copper ones like wheat pennys. Any advice would be helpful, thanks!!!

The way we clean the Wheat cents is just scrub them with a stiff nylon brush, soap and water. With other clad cents you can put them in a jar of white vinegar and shake them around a bit and only leave them in there for a short time. Very short time! If using a tumbler, just add a bit of sand to the water and they will come out clean, but some pitting. Don't clean any copper with the quarters, dimes or nickels or they will turn a nice copper color when in a tumbler. We learned that by experience..lol. Sometimes I have taken a brass brush to the copper coins also.

Hope that helps, but I'm sure there's others on here that know what to do also and will have some great ideas for you.

I tumble them for an hour in hot water and dish soap then another hour in vinegar and water they shine right up. Dan
