I have this Fisher 1235-x Fisher m- scope w/ a 8in Coil w/ a cover on it. How do I set it up for gold Rings, Gold Chains & coins? what are the settings for DISC? FREQ? SENS?:fisher:

Hi Mike,
The 1225x was my first detector, almost the same as yours, less the frequency shift and hipmount capability.
For the chains and gold you want to find, you should use no discrimination at all especially on the beach.
Normal sensitivity is about 7, less in heavy mineralization. These machines are very stable. Treat the sensitivity as headlights in the fog. You can see better with the low beams in the fog.
The 1235x is actually good on chains, but it takes patients to weed through the trash.
Check out my "1266 owners lend an ear post" for some interesting maverick sensitivity/ discrimination methods. This is all experimental. Try it out on your machine and tell us your finding.
Bench test the targets you want to find and record your numbers. Remember a ring at depth will sound like trash, use as little disc as possible to learn the machine and for gold.
Good Hunting!

OK for gold chains 'DISC/ 0' 'FREQ /0' 'SENS /7'

what about Coins what do I put the DISC? FREQ? SENS at?

When on the beach, use no dicrimination if you want gold and deep coins. If your beach is trashy and you can't tolerate all the activity, up your discriminator but you lose depth and some gold.

This is interesting with the 1235x:

DETECTOR DEPTH COMPARISON TEST RESULTS
test results compiled by Scoopman of Treasure Coast Scoops Florida

NOTE: This test was not done by me, and was conducted in a unique mineralized area of Florida Beach. The results may not be the same at another type beach

Our quest was to find a machine that will detect 22k plus spanish gold in the water and on our mineralized beaches, under severe adverse conditions. All eleven participants are very well skilled with their choice of detector. Our beaches were surface mined many years ago to extract minerals used for the flux-coating of welding rods. There are many detectors that will not work in our area. This test was to seek the best machine for our conditions and not to belittle any other detectors. We had access to the detectors, but there may be other detectors that will work here that we were not able to compare at this time. The following targets were freshly buried in a plastic cup that was taped to a 24

Go to the Fisher website and download the manual for free. It is in a pdf. format.
The discriminator know is for trash elimination.
Use no discrimination for gold chains.:detecting:
