Help partner get intested in metal detecting

hello could anyone tell how to get my partner interested in metal detecting is it better to buy a more expensivve model so that she can locate coins etc and what would you suggest in machines or models?

Hi Daniel,
I've got several suggestions here about this. Take your partner out and show her how to use yours. It's a bit like taking kids fishing. You spend most of the time untangling lines and rescuing lures and hooks from trees or rocky bottoms. Get her used to the detector own her own, dig up the holes for her, no matter how many (and maybe spike the ground with a coin or two to get her interested.) Minelab just brought out the new X-Terra all purpose tresure detector, the X-terra 30 and 50. Both models are well suited to park hunting.(Whatever you do don't take your partner out to trashy ground!):pulltab: Or if you want something more upmarket, get the Quattro. It's an excellent machine as you may know, but takes a little getting used to with time and practice. The Explorer ll would definitely be out of the question! Buying Andy Sabicsh's book on the Quattro is a must. In the end though, do your homework before you buy. Sometimes you can hire out a model over a weekend. But definitely do spike the ground!!! It worked when I had it done to me!!!
Regards Angela :minelab:;)

Thanks Angela for your advice and the weather's getting bettter to go metal detecting thanks daniel
ps, Amy said if you live in Victoria she love to see another womans approach to metal detecting if you have time.

Hi Daniel,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you saying that you and your girl are from Australia? I must have missed it somewhere!! I thought I was the only one writting into this forum in quite a while, from here! Yes I am from victoria. I live in an old gold mining town with very few permanant residents. So I do a lot of detecting with my Quattro on the old goldfields mostly. Occasionally I hit the beaches to detect, (and fishing, my second love!) Tell Amy I'd like to meet up one day. My working hours are a little weird in that I work weekends and some weekdays. Usually I have Mondays and Tuedsays off, and my husband and I head up bush to camp, detect (he now has an Explorer) and trout fish. Sometimes we camp on the beach on the Mornington Peninsula. We'll be heading that way about mid December for 5 days. Where in Victoria are you guys from?
Regards Angela:minelab::)

Hi angela yes we live in victoria between Seymour and Avenel which is about a hour from Bendigo then another about 40 mins to Dunolly we love to meet thanks for you quick reply

Slow and steady is a great aerobic exercise, and you are in the fresh air rather than a stinky stuffy gym.
