Help on relic digger. Please.

I'm going out to a cellar hole tomorrow and thought about how tired I get using a small digger to retrieve my targets. Of course where I live, I have lots of rocks and tree roots. I also hike some distances to get where I detect. Maybe a suggestion or two for a good system for packing my detecting stuff?

Now which digger to buy? I was thinking about a Lesche 40" Ground Shark. Is it too heavy? Is there something better? Is a ball handle better than a Tee handle? I'm open for suggestions. Don't let me buy something that is not practical in the field. I hate getting stuff I don't use.

Hey John, I have used an army "e" tool for years now (WWII folding trench shovel) it digs the perfect size whole and you can buy a hammer holder from your local home improvement center to carry it on your belt when your not diggin a lot of targets. Drop the shovel handle down throught the hammer loop and the small spade sits nice in the loop.

hey john, jay is right about his e tool - they are great diggers. olddigger, a buddy of mine, folds the spade part over into a 90 degree angle, locks it down and uses it kinda like a pick. it works well for him. i could never get the knack for it, so i went to the flea market and got a short straight spade for 5 bucks. it's the same size as an e tool, only it doesn't fold. and don't forget to run a grinder across the edge of the spade once in a while to keep it sharp! hh!
