HELP ON MXT BEACH SETTINGS

BDRC1

New member
what is the best setting for hunting on the beach. Ive been detecting for two years coin and jewelry and recently gave a shot at a beach in the Washington state area for the first time. Ive tried all different settings and found about 100 pull tabs, a hot wheels car and thats it. not even a coin. i know its out there just don't know if the setting are right. should i have it in cj, relic mode, disc level, trigger centered? misplaced my manual. any advice would be appreciated. still have on the stock coil. maybe my luck its been hunted a thousand times.

I use my MXT on the beach all the time here on Cape Cod MA.with great success. Maybe the following will help
relic mode
trigger centered
disc at 0 (none)
on dry sand set track to ground
on wet sand set track to salt
threshold to barely audible

I use relic mode because I can hear the low grunt iron signals. The disc is at zero because many small gold rings will have a low or even 0 vdi reading. Unfortunately you cannot avoid the tabs if you want to find rings,it is a fact of life no natter what detector you use.
The trick I found in wet sand is to turn down your gain until the threshold settles down. Here on the Cape beaches I find between 7-9 to be the norm.It may be different where you are.I also use a 6x10 dd whites coil and it helps a lot. I also set the GB often by pumping the coil up and down over clean wet sand several times. It helps to stabilize the chatter I get in the wet sand.
As far as not having found any coins. It has to be that they are not there. If you are finding tabs then your MXT is working fine.
Beach hunting, especially in wet sand is trickier than general land hunting , but with practice you will do fine. I certainly have had great results on the beach, once I got the hang of it.

Hope I was of some help
Good luck

thanks for the input slapshot. ill try your settings. i think you where right by saying theres just probably nothing there.after all, it is winter and it was probably hunted many times before i got there. thanks for the response.
