Help on getting coil

New member
I have a 5.3 for my pro which i love, and the stock 300 which i do not like. Just heavy and clumsey. I would like a mid size coil for soccer fields ect. Hunting south west of Sacramento. I was thinking maybe a D2. Looking for help

You might want to try out the 9.5 coil that comes stock with the regular MXT. If you don't have an EMI or ground mineralization problem it could get you equal or better depth and better ID if that's what you're looking for. Just a thought . . .

The D2 coil excels in very mineralized ground, (smaller footprint), like Scott said, I would try the 950. The biggest problem with a DD/SEF coil is they like the bottlecaps. (reads like a quarter)

I've done well with the 6X10 in play fields and the like. If you read through the forum you'll see that many use that coil heavily.

I like the 10" DD a lot. I found the 6 x 10 to be no deeper than the 5.3. The 10"DD has great depth. I do dig bottle caps, but I dig a lot of good stuff too.

It was explained to me that the 6x10 is a great coil for small gold in high mineralized areas.

[size=large]i too am looking for a little smaller coil. i'm using the D2 for now and it's proving to be a deep and sensitive coil. not convinced yet if i really need the 6x10 size. want to try the SEF 8x6. they are gaining a good rep over the home grown coils.just not much talk on them but what talk there is has been positive. i really liked my minelab version of the 8x6. i'll order one and see how it turns out. won't be able to report if it's better. don't own the 6x10 but can say if it's good or bad. just gotta know.

[size=large]as pictured by Lodihunter it's whites 10" DD coil.seems like everything else in this hobby, you gotta give up something to gain something else. like it's been mentioned the dd coil likes bottle caps. but it is much better in heavey mineralized soil. you gotta know and weigh all the factors you're gunna be dealing with in your areas to know which coil is best and when.
