i live in western Washington state and own an mxt. i hunt mostly parks with a lot of trash. I'm debating on a whites 5.3 coil or a 5 inch excelerator coil. i only have the stock coil since i bought it 2 years ago learning the machine. i love it and figure its time for another coil. any recommendations would be very much appreciated. thanks for any input. p.s. keep up the great site.

I would also consider the 4 X 6 DD by white's especially since the area is very trashy... A DD coil, IMHO, is going to work better for you due to configuration of windings... Richard
BTW, The 5" Ex. is a DD, too

I have and use the 5" excelerator coil. It works great. Can't speak for the other coils but I am sure they will do you a good job also. Good luck with whatever you choose.

thanks for your time and input to all. ill look and read more into the 4x6 and consider it. ill give an update later. HAPPY HOLLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!!!!

I have the whites 4X6 and 5.3 as well as the 5"DD Excellerator.Of these three I find the 5"DD best in heavy trash. The 5.3 is actually a 6.5" and, while it is a good general purpose coil ,it is a bit large for best results in trash compared to the Excellerator.Whatever coil you choose ,use a slow sweep speed with the MXT in such conditions.I also suggest that you NOT cut sensitivity back from normal levels. The MXT has better response and recovery time if you do not.Happy hunting and merry Christmas!

We have some of the worst ground in the usa--I have 4-5 coils but the 8 in. EXcellerator and Whites smallest loops are used the most--Both are Double D---The Small EXcellerator came out later is why I did not get it---My Whitesis so old that it is a Prototype--Thats old---Where do you live I am in Van. area??
