Hey Y'all, it's me again. I need your help on a very important issue about metal detecting: finding new spots to hunt. I've been metal detecting for 14months now and have enjoyed every second of it, always grumbling about having to go to work instead of following my passion:) I've hunted most of the parks in my county and have used the GIS to locate the name and addresses of land/farm/home owners in my county and went on to knock at their doors to introduce myself and ask for permission to hunt.
Now, I need your help to find ways to get permission to hunt on places farther away, out of county and even out of state without having to drive for hours to personally meet the owners, if they're there. Most of you guys have been metal detecting for many moons and I'm sure know all the tricks of the trade. How can I expand my horizon and enjoy my passion even more without being spatially limited?
You guys have always come through for me in the past and I know this time won't be different.
Thanks a bunch, and keep enjoying your passion.

I don't often knock on doors seeking permission to hunt on properties. There is nothing wrong with that, and many great finds have been had that way. It's just not for me. When I choose to get out of my local area, I rely on books, maps and Google earth. I search for small parks, old baseball diamonds and old towns with rivers/creeks rolling through them. I like to hunt these places. No permission required.
