I just need a good program to be able to detect these findings. Thank you very much for the replies :)

wow that's sure some old stuff to look for !! kool.

1st thing I would say is put yourself where the coins could and will be before even turning the detector on, after all none of us can find something that's not there, so research is a big part of finding anything, and that is the best discrimination there is !!

one thing I like about the CTX is you or me can run an open screen and I am guessing a lot of those old coins would come down low on the discrimination scale, I run an open screen 99% of the time unless there is a real lot of junk and all the sounds drive me nuts !!

so that's a good place to start find a spot and dig everything and you will start to see patterns emerging and that takes a bit of time, but listen hard look at the screen and marry the 2 together to work out how to build your very own patterns.

sure some of the guys in the UK would know more about those small old coins than I so if they are around I am sure they can help also.

good luck and keep reading and detecting it does fall into place!!

I would suggest you post your inquiry on the Minelab Users Forum where you would find members in the UK and Europe who might have experience with such coins.

What is your gig? Are you an archaeologist, or a hobyest? I am a geologist in Georgia, USA with experience in geophysics and metal detecting. Give me some details about you're goals and maybe I can help. You have to post a bit more before I can send you a private message. I need a name and affiliation that I can confirm. Do not spare the details.

First of all thanks for the reply.
I am a hobyest and new to this hobby. The thing is that it's illiggal to use a metal detector in Cyprus so I would prefer not giving away any details. My goals are mainly coins used during those periods. As Iwas told most of the coins found are orichalcum, copper, silver, gold and brass. All I need is a discrimination pattern that will accept these targets in order to begin getting familiar with my CTX. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Sounds to me that all you need now is the standard coins program and a small flashlight.

Just try the coins you have now with the coin program. My guess is none of those coins would have been missed with the standered coin program.

Good luck Cyprus friend.
