Help Needed on Relic ID

Here's one for you relic hunters. I found this "buckle" type relic about 3 1/2 " long with my X-terra 70 at an old farmstead. It is deeply curved and has slots in it that I think could be intended for a leather strap to be weaved in and out of and 2 prongs that could be inserted in holes punched into the strap to lock it into place -- so I'm thinking maybe it was for adjusting a harness strap? --- but it so, why would it need to be as curved as it is??? Wouldn't a harness adjustment be somewhat flatter? It also has some sort of "knob" for lack of a better term on the main part of the outside frame that would perhaps serve as an attachment point to something else.

Any ideas on this "whatzit" would be greatly appreciated. It has really piqued my curiosity. Thanks for looking. This is my first post on the Relic Forum, although I have posted on some of the other Find's forums as I use several different brands of detectors and check out the different sites regularly.

Welcome to the forum Cliff. You have found a horse or mule harness buckle strap. I have found several over the years just like that at old farmsteads. Neat find!
