Help needed on a U.S. Customs badge...

A few weeks back during the blistering hot days of summer, I recovered this U.S. Customs, assistant weighers badge #35. It was washed off with plain soap and water and I was surprised that the wire clip was still attached and in very good condition. I tried looking up information on this badge but was unable to do so with satisfactory success.

I would appreciate any feedback on this badge, and to know if it has any value.

Thank you for reading this :)

The badge has the appearance of one from the time period. Check the back of the badge to see what badge company produced it and then try contacting them. You can always try contacting US Customs but then again, they may want their badge back...

A weigher normally worked the docks and weighed items as they were unloaded from the ships.

It appears you have a older Customs Inspectors Badge, The number 35 was the 35th Badge of its type. I would guess maybe 40-50's ??????????? The value ???? Depends on how much hassle you want from the Federal Government.
It it were me I would write to U.S. Customs, (FLETC) Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Glynco, Georgia. Enclose a Picture of the Badge and ask your questions. They should even be able to tell you what person wore the Badge. If you should get any hassle.Ask for the Government form to have the Badge encased in Plastic, thats what they do for people who retire. You now have several options, including returning the Badge to the Person who wore it or his family. Beside the fact that your find and later developments would make a good Treasure Magazine Story !!!!
NICE FIND !!!! .....and GOOD LUCK !!......."The Government works in strange ways"
