HELP NEEDED FOR SOVEREIGN XS-2A PRO

I HAVE A SOVEREIGN XS-2A PRO AND WHEN I PUT IN THE 2 AA BATTERY PACKS IN THE DETECTOR THE BATTERY SLIDE DOOR DOES NOT STAY LOCK IN JUST TOUCHING THE CONTROL BOX THE DOOR SLIDES OPEN WHEN I HAD A RECHARGEABLE PACK IT LOCK JUST FINE WHEN I PUT THE 2 AA BATTERY PACKS IN IT WON'T STAY SHUT. IS THERE A DIFFERENCES IN LENGT ON THE A BATTERY PACKS ARE SOME LONGER THAN OTHER COULD THAT BE WHY IT SEEMS LIKE IF THE PACKS WERE LIKE A 1/16 OF AN INCH SHORTER THEY WOULD WORK AND THE BATTERY SLIDE DOOR WOULD STAY SHUT, ARE ALL THE BATTERY PACKS THE SAME LENGTH. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Are you using the factory alkaline drop in pack? It should be the same length or close to it as the rechargeable pack are. What I did see when I had my XS2a and the XS2 was that they fit looser than the rechargeable pack were and could lose connection as the battery door would slide open, so many of us would put a small piece of foam on the inside of the door to hold the battery tighter against the battery door which help the door sit better. Another thing I have seen is the latch on the door get wore down so it will not lock in place and had to warm the latch area up on the door and real easy try to pull it up just a little to help it to lock . The best would to use some foam between the door and battery to hold it tight.

Good Luck with it as I feel it was a bad design as I seen a few that changed this over to the older style that had a wire to plug in the battery pack as you would loose connection with the drop in packs when the door would slide open a little.

Can you post a picture or 2? I have a older Sovereign and can fit 2 battery packs in. It's a very tight fit!

Those alkaline battery packs do vary in size. The ones used or fit Fishers,Garretts and Minelabs must be the smaller ones or won't fit into the battery compartment.Your best chance is find the alkaline packs that fit the Fisher or Garrett from a dealer or off of Ebay.Sometimes finding the correct size can be hit or miss, yes I've been there,my suggestion try to find another alkaline pack. Its usually not worth the effort to shave a little plastic off of these to make them work, with this fix the integrity of the holders are compromised and will cause another problem.Hope this helps.
