Help: MXT Volume Control?

Member
Just got a new MXT last week (my second detector). When I went to turn down the loud volume, I was surprised to discover that there isn't a volume control. I really don't want to wear headphones. Is there any way to adjust the volume?

Thanks!

I had the same question awhile back. If you search the old posts, you find more detail on this issue. But basically it

I would highly recommend headphones with a volume control. One thing, headphones greatly extend the battery life and two...those tones when you get a hit and especially pinpointing can be quite annoying to others in the area. Put the headphones around your neck. You can still hear most of the sound but definitely get headphones. Good luck and good hunting..............

Try partially covering the speaker holes in the case or cover them with different types of foam or cloth to get the effect you desire.

I have had the same problem and found that a sticker over the speaker holes dampens the sound quite well. Any sticker will work, whites even makes a sticker just for that purpose (and to keep dirt and sand out) for only $1
