HELP ME ON PICKING BIG AREA COIL

millingtime

New member
Should i buy the super12" or the D 2 10" or the 10x12 sef????? thanx for the feedback

DD 10" or the SEF 10 x12. I have the 12 x15 SEF and love it in open ground. I just got a DD 10" and like it for the woods.

What type of detecting are you going to be doing that you need a large coil? That will make a big difference. HH, Nancy

Parks and soccer fields, i already have a 9.5 and 6x10!!! the 6x10:thumbup:

OK then. I would go with the BigFoot. It's so lightweight and easy to pinpoint and literally will pinpoint on a dime sort of speak! 3" x 18" coil. Yes, that's right. It's one heck of a coil for sweeping a large area. Just think of being able to sweep 30" plus in two swings.........granted you are over lapping your swings to make sure you cover every space. Gets up to 5" to 6" if not more if you've got your machine tweaked up. I can't say enough about this coil. They are being made again in limited supply. IMHO, Nancy

I added a picture of the coil.

I second the BigFoot. I don't think there's any other coil that can come close to covering the ground like the BF. Super fast to pinpoint and it's lighter than the stock 9.5. My digital scale shows the stock coil at 16.8 oz and the BigFoot at 15.6 oz. Super at the beach on the dry sand for recent drops.

What would be the downside to using the bigfoot as opposed to using a smaller coil in those same areas ? Thanks

You sacrifice depth for coverage with the Bigfoot. 6-7 inches is about max, maybe a little bit more on a sandy beach.

The big foot does get some good reviews here, but I
think I'll stay with my 9.5 and 12inch coil for depth.
It might be slower but out in the plowed bean and corn fields
I think I would be missing the deeper targets.

Have fun with your new coil.
