HELP ME ID THIS GREEN GLOBE

New member
Hello I have been collecting bottles for a few years now and I have come across this nice green pattern globe. Does anyone know what this was used for. Possibly an oil lamp??? Any idea how old it is?
Thanks for any info. I can't wait to start digging for bottles.

Usually lamps will have a glass collar at the top. This does not.

It is hard for to tell the size, maybe you can post the height but looking at the photo with your hand showing it looks to me like a 1800's match holder. Some sat on the fireplace mantle, or on the ledge of old wood cookstoves, and some hung from the bottom of hanging oil lamps. They were made in different colors, most commonly clear and white. Just a guess, they measured approx. 2-3" high.
