Hey guys,
I posted this messege in the Garrett forum and someone said to try to move it over here and that you guys are pretty helpful. Here is my original messege with photos.

Hi all,
I posted these finds on another metal detecting forum and I didn't get any answers or even guesses as to what this button could be. First off, I don't often find many lookers. The 1919 and 1920 Wheats are bests for me. Also the '43 War Nickel was my first silver coin, although I have found several silver rings, including the one in the photo which is the most recent. The button was found 8 inches down near an old military road that was first utilized by the French, the the British, and then the Americans. Basically follow the wars through the colonial period and thats who controlled it. It went from Fort Pitt to Fort Presque Isle in Erie, PA. This button has a hatchet at either noon or six o' clock depending on which way you look at it. There seem to be initials of "JIE" or "JTE" on it. Also if you flip the picture over that I have provided it looks like an anchor. However, I don't know what it would be if you look at it the way I have provided the picture. I really need help on this one as it is a big find for me and have no idea what it could be. It's two pieces and brass. Any help would be appreciated more than anyone could know. I know for sure that this is a military button and unique to my area's history. As a graduate student in history, specifically military history, this is a great find for me. Thanks for looking.
