Help me decide the Grey Ghost Ultimate or the NDT headphone model

majesus

New member
I am trying to choose between the Grey Ghost NDT or the Ultimate headphones for my Etrac (and Xterra 70). I understand it is a preference, but I would like some opinions.

From the threads I've searched, it seems the NDT are more popular because you can switch cables. However, I like the push buttons of the Ultimate and the choice to turn on/off the limiter.

Thanks,
Majesus

I had the same question a year ago ...
Liked the idea of two cords - but I went with the Ultimate - their great - Grey Ghost's are very well made - maybe two cords are not needed ?
Never used the NDT's - but I'm sure they are also very good.

Good luck !

Unless your a hard core Relic guy beating it hard in the brush you probly never get to the second cable. Both are great phones ive owned Grey Ghosts for 12years no problems at all.

Thanks for the info.

In terms of weight and feel , are the NDT and Ultimate the same? In essence, are they the same headphone, but one has limiter on/off switch while the other has the two cords?

well if it helps I use the sunray gold pro cause the ear pads are leather and the sound is great and the best for last the life time warranty

I own a set of the Grey Ghost NDT's, a set of the Original Grey Ghosts and a set of the Grey Ghost Deep woods, Sorry no Ultimates as I'm head phone poor now. I use the NDT's most of the time as I have gotten used to them and I wear hearing aids and they work pretty good with them.

I bought the NDT's because over the years if I had a problem with head phones it was usually do to a short in the cable. I have had this set two years now and have never had a problem with them. I also like having the ability to adjust the head phones volume independently, they also are supposed to have a automatic limiter built in..

I have a set of Grey Ghost Deep Woods that has a limiter switch and so far haven't seen a real need for the limiter switch. I do like the NDT"S better though. Again I'm used to them.

I recently purchased a set of Grey Ghost originals that will be going to my grand daughter. I tried them out once and like them fine. My son has a set of Grey Ghost originals he has had for 5 years and has never had a problem with them.

My experience with Grey Ghost head Phones is you'll be happy with which ever one you buy and will most likely have few if any problems. Besides Detector Pro who manufactures them has a limited life time warranty on all their phones.

I bought the Ultimates to replace my standard Koss head phones when the cable broke at the plug (I repaired mine for a backup and will share how if anyone is interested).

I like the Ultimates and they are all I use now, but have a little trouble with the lower volume compared to the Koss.

I have used the Grey Ghost Ultimate phones for a long time and they really do make a difference...the only complaint I have with them is that they effectively seal off any outside noise...I have had people walk up on me and I did not hear them or see them,..too busy detecting...If you wear these phones you should make it a policy to look around you every few minutes to check the surroundings...and it is wise to hunt with a partner...Happy Hunting...
