Help me decide!!! Please!!!

Expert help needed! I am trying to make a decision on buying a detector and have narrowed it down to 2 choices. The Goldquest by Eric Foster and the CZ 20, local guy has the cz still in stock. I live on the beach in West Florida and will hunt the beach and shallow water areas with it. I do not mind digging everything, and I guess I will be hunting jewelry left by the hordes of tourists that frequent my area. Please give the advantages and disadvantages of each and any thoughts you may have!!! TIA ED.

I had the Cz20.It works super and goes deep.On a saltwater beach you should be able to get a ring or nickel at about 12-14".Drawback is with the 101/2"coil it will wear on you when hunting the sand unless you hipmount it.Don't know about the other machine.

I own one of Eric Fosters pi units and love it above all others,
BUT their will be times when it is not possible to use a pi due to washed up iron or place in general.

The fisher can be used anywhere anytime so if you are going to own only one machine i would buy one that can disc.

One good thing about the fisher is the lifetime warranty although may not be first choice for the smaller gold.

Only my input I'm sure their are many different ones as well

I have the CZ-20 and even with the smaller coil, it gets amazing depth. Hip mounting is easy and a must unless you have arms like Popeye. It does love iron though and those pesky crown caps can drive you crazy.

At my beach, I'd have to say that most people use the Excalibur. I use my ExpII at the beach exclusively (very carefully in the shallow surf)with great results. If I had to do it all over again, I'd have bought the Excal. The warranty is limited though. I've had my CZ serviced twice and both times the repair was done relatively quickly and at no cost to me. The last time I had it out, they basically rebuilt the machine. As far as replacement parts in the future now that it's discontinued, I would hope that Fisher would have to continue to supply them. We'll see.

With all of the junk in the water, using a PI, you'll be digging a lot of it. Personally, I wouldn't go with a PI, but that's my preference. With the CZ, I just run it in Autotune (I think it's more stable)and flip to disc "0" to ID the target.

What would their advertising slogan be for the next model? "buy the detector from us, and get a free shaft"?????
Nah, I got faith in Fisher. They honor their products warranties.
If they discontinue their main selling detector for some reason, I have to believe they have something better in the wings.
If not, then something would be way wrong somewhere.
