help me date this lock

Met a detectorist who without permission cleaned out this very old lot when the Realtor sign was on it. With permission from the new owner I hunted it today-found only clad but also this cool lock. Guess he didnt get it all. It appears to be copper with no lettering on it. It is about two and a quarter inch high and about one and a half inches across. It is very flat, from the side about a quarter inch thick- even the shackle is flat metal- I do believe it was functional at one time albeit not to heavy duty. Any ideas on the date? At a property nearby with permission have found IH pennies, and merc dimes. Wish this rain would stop it is slowing me down here in the northeast. Thanks for your input, CO
