I have not taken anytime off for over three years. So I just signed up for my wife and myself for a cruse to Verns old place, :D One week on the sea to Alaska. I think my wife and I will enjoy it, Vern, any ideas on detecting up there ? :D

thats great Jeff!!!:clap:lifes too short ya gotta take time to sniff the roses once and a while.:thumbup:good for you both, have a blast man!!!!:super:

you'll be lucky to find a wheat-back penny in most parks in Alaska. Remember, American history there is barley a 100 years old and sparse at that. Leave your detector home and pan for gold.

Or better yet, I can save you ton of money.... Fore-go the cruise and just drive up to my place for a few days and I'll show you our Alaska photo albums for half the price! I'll even let you try on my Mukluks

REALLY beautiful. REALLY COLD.

The ports of call are just like the ports of call in the Carib. Islands, the only difference is hard woods versus palm trees, tourist shops selling knit caps versus straw hats, cold versus hot, and building styles.

If you tour inland, get some mosquito repellent wipes. Those buggers can get you through 3 shirts, a sweater, and a quilted jacket!

If you gamble on the ship, play 3 card poker ... it's your best odds.
You are going to have a blast. Oh, by the way, don't let the cruise line talk you into "open seating" ... get assigned seating for either early or late serving. In open seating, you really don't get to know the folks you eat with unless you share the same seating table every night. Take along lots of throat lozenges, and flu meds ... if you have to buy those on the ship, they are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.
