Help in mid state Florida

Firefly

New member
Hi all,
:minelab: First off let me thank everyone for the posts on these forums. I spend my nights here reading the interseting finds and l the advice you all post.
I'm working in Iraq right now but will be home for 2 weeks R&R in Mount Dora, Florida in the middle of Oct. I'm new to detecting and just bought an Explorer SE.

Can any of you good people give me some ideas on were to hunt in the area ? I plan to hit some parks but am looking for some older areas.

Thanks in advance.:detecting::beers:

Either that or try and do a search for History on your Towns at the Library. Research is Key to making good finds. Also try Old Fairgrounds, Ball Fields, Picnic Grounds, anything that had lots of People Congregating back in the old days. Churches and Cemetery Parking Lots are also Excellent Old Coins searching grounds. Good Luck and HH when you come home. Be safe in Iraq and welcome to the Explorer Forum!:thumbup:

Hit the library periodicals, probably on a computer or micro fiche. Mt Dora was a major shipping port for the citrus industry in the 1800s. grand Isle on the north shore of Eustis is an old ghost town, but has been developed. Also the is an old fort up near lake Yale.
Good luck, JW
