Help ID'ing Buckle

Hi All,

My hunting buddy and I hit an old farm in Rhode Island, with not much success at all. I did manage to squeeze out an 1886 Indian and this buckle. It is about the size of a half dollar. Can anyone provide me any information as to the type, period, etc. of this buckle???

Thank you for the information- I really wish I had found the other piece, but sadly I did not. I did search all around for it to no avail. Seems like it would have been pretty valuable if I had both pieces.
