Help Identifying This - Coin, Token, What

I dug this up and it was down at 8 inches. Need help figuring out what it is.

Clues and information on find:
- It sticks to a magnet
- It was down 8 inches in Virginia clay
- Dug out on relatives land that was once a farm owned by General Lee
- About the size of a current 50 cent
- See pictures on Size and thickness

Any suggestions or help is appreciated
