Probably aluminum. Would like country and date range if anybody can figure it out.

Thanks.

This comes from the former Japanese puppet state of MANCHUKUO (Manchuria). Later turned over to China. Dated 1940, it's called a CHIAO. 1 Chiao=10 Fen.

Man what took you so long. I've only been at it for about 3 days. Thanks a million, Dave.

I didn't find it metal detecting It was at the bottom of a box of postcards I bought at a rummage sale. Lots of cool goodies other than this. Coins from about 25 nations. 12 were silver. Oldest was an 1846 British 3 pence piece. Also another with date unreadable. A couple of Victoria pennies. A key date 5 cent piece from Canada with another common. An 1860 Indian Head Penny. Two real nice civil war tokens. One Army Navy the other This Nation...... A 40 percent silver half. A two headed quarter nicely made. A silver Canadian dime and quarter. About 50 Large and Small Canadian cents. Silver French 50 centime from the 20s. Silver Swiss half frank from the early 1900s. A handful of modern US and Canadian coins including SBA and Loon dollars. US 2 cent piece date unreadable. 14K pendant with gold plated silver coin. A Buffalo Nickel. More but those are what I remember. A bunch of it is going in my collection and a bunch to Ebay. I did OK for my 10 bucks, I guess. Oh yeah I bought the box because there were about 20 post card books from Europe pre WW2 that I thought were interesting. I had fun reconstructing this persons travel from London to France, to Spain, to Italy and many other countries in-between. I managed to identify all but this one coin so thanks again. Now how did it get there?

Oh yeah. Also what I think is and AA coin that has Matt Talbot on one side and "But for the grace of God" on the other. It sure sounds like silver when it hits the table. Slightly bigger than a half dollar. Evere seen one?

I thank you one more time for your great help!

Chris

I returned the AA coin or medal to the owners daughter today along with a religious medal.

The civil war tokens are patriotic. One has Army Navy on one side and Federal Union it Must and Shall be Preserved on the other. The second has an Indian with the words Union and Liberty on the obverse along with the date of 1863.The reverse says One Country. Army Navy is in AU and the other VF-XF if I use my Indian Head experience as a reference. I can't photograph them right now as I need to hit for batteries tomorrow. Not an AA in the house. I think I may sell the tokens on along with the Canadian coins and a few of my oddballs on ebay. It is just in my nature to finish a collection once I start it and I don't need another expensive project. I have a complete small cent collection less 1856 Flying Eagle, error coins and overstrikes right now. No proofs either, just circulated. I am tracking a few of the medals on to see what they sell for and it looks like about 15-30 bucks a piece.

I'll have some photos later if you want to see them I'll post them. I'll need sunlight anyway.

I bought all the key wheats and Indians over the years. Never found one key except a few 1909 VDBs and a few of the tougher Ds and Ss in the teens. Small cents have been a good investment. They have appreciated significantly. I will probably sell them some day and then start over a few years later. I get more enjoyment out of the search than in owning them. Does that make sense? I have done that with mercs, twice now. Had to buy that 1916D three times. The last time I got a good deal, other two paid fair market value. Nice chatting with you.
