I found this US marked item yesterday along with some civil war related items in a campsite. Can anyone identify it for me?? It has a lead back and is the size of a half dollar, I was thinking a rosette but the ones I have seen are different. Thanks for looking
 
Should be the size of moder dollar coin..perhaps a bit smaller. THey also made the same thing but a bit smaller for the harness straps that went over the horses or mule bodies.
