Help Identify

John D.

New member
I just found a ring at about 4" deep and it came out of the ground as shiny as a Mercury dime. It has three onyx stones and has stamped
D25 SU on the inside. Can anyone tell me what D25 SU means?
Thank You for your help.
Your Friend,

On Closer inspection I think it may be G25 SU.

As shiny as it is, I would say it is good silver for sure. I have a book for marks on jewelry. sounds like maybe .925 which is Sterling. A lot of times the marks don't get stamped real good. If you can get a loop and see it better, let me know and I will check my book again. the book I use is How To Be A Jewelry Detective by C. Bell. It is good for identifying marks by maker, gold, silver and other metals, old and new. You can get it on Ebay for around $15.00.

Thank You very much. I feel sure that a ring as deep as I found it had to be in the ground for a very long time and to be as shiny as a new dime tells me it must be silver.
I think I will buy the book you recommend as I hope to find more rings.
Your Friend,

Hey no prblem. The only Mercury dime I found came out of the ground just shining bright. I guess thats a sign of good silver. YOu can't go wrong with that book.
